"Excellent 30 hours Yoga Alliance approved course that gave thorough and detailed explanations and cues for each of the asanas and covered all aspects of teaching chair yoga to clients. The videos are calming and engaging with superb audio and video demonstrations. I started teaching my elderly mother the very next day that I finished the course. "This course offered an excellent introduction into the practice of Restorative Yoga including the history, weaving breath work into the practice, and the Yamas and Niyamas.  It also provided a clear and concise description of each posture, including well thought out modifications.    

 

I also learned some lovely enhancements to the practice (e.g., cervical spine support in a good many of the postures, plus my favorite new enhancement – running the fingers across the chest to promote release and relaxation).  I have taught Restorative Yoga for many years, and you know that I immediately started using these enhancements in my classes.

 

As always, Amanda includes information on inclusivity, the proper use of touch (with consent), keeping trauma front of mind, and the cultivation a trusting, respectful, nurturing class environment.  “Leaving the students in control of their practice.”  There is a wonderful section on cultural appreciation vs. appropriation; as well as student confidentiality and lastly (and one that I have not seen before taking Amanda’s courses) that importance teacher self-care!

 

One final word of note, in this course Amanda skillfully weaves in the use of scrollable written descriptions and diagrams to explain the concepts that may be difficult to understand in a lecture format (e.g., the nervous system, skeletal system, muscular system, spinal anatomy, etc, these were truly beneficial extremely well executed.  Great job!"

About

My soul has always been attuned to the rhythm of movement and the intricate language of the body. However, upon being diagnosed with a rare blood cancer called Myeloproliferative Neoplasm, I found myself navigating sickness, physical pain, and increasing anxiety.

Through the support of my yoga and meditation practice, I discovered a renewed sense of strength in both my mind and body. This helped me to manage the side effects of my cancer and calm the mounting anxiety that accompanies chronic illness.

Now, at the age of 51, I feel a remarkable sense of resilience in my body and mind. Yoga and meditation have infused my life with happiness, optimism, and a deep appreciation for the abundance that surrounds me.

As a yoga and meditation teacher, I humbly bring a perspective to my teaching practice that is grounded in empathy and shaped by my personal journey. Having faced my own battles with chronic illness and injury, I've gained an understanding that helps me connect with my students on a deep level. This understanding allows me to foster a safe and nurturing environment, catering to practitioners of all levels with compassion and care.

I have been teaching internationally for over 20 years and have completed over 2000 hours of yoga teacher training including courses in chair yoga, restorative yoga, meditation, and Pilates. I am a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP) and also hold a Master’s Degree in Dance Technique Pedagogy and a Post Graduate Certificate in Creative Industries.
